Manifesto Hatched to Close Gap Between Business and IT

The BizOps Coalition hopes to bridge the gap between technology investments and business outcomes through an effort called the BizOps Manifesto, which offers numerous guiding principles to help organizations achieve business outcomes based on trust, confidence, and collaboration. The group published the document on its website Oct. 13 as a framework to address its key issues: to scale and accelerate the advancement of the BizOps movement. The BizOps Coalition advocates for fundamental change in the way business and IT collaborate in modern software development by using this new framework designed to connect technology investments to business outcomes. The BizOps movement has gained traction with leading organizations, helping them reduce waste and inefficiencies, break down silos, and improve collaboration to better align IT with business outcomes. Transportation Services in Colombo restricted

Transportation Services in Colombo were restricted following a quarantine curfew imposed for Fort and Pettah. State Minister Dilum Amunugama speaking to News 1st said all buses which commence operations from Fort and Pettah and list Fort and Pettah as the destination, will no longer operate until further notice. This applies to both Sri Lanka Transport Board & Private Bus Operators, said the State Minister. WHO says it hopes to introduce a COVID-19 vaccine by January 2021

"There may be some COVID-19 vaccines available by the 1st quarter of 2021, for the most vulnerable groups in the world," the World Health Organization said. President offended over move to withdraw dual citizenship clause: MP Weerasumana

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was offended over attempts to withdraw constitutional provisions that would allow dual citizens to hold political office, a government parliamentarian has said. He (the president) said there are dual citizens who love the country and want to serve it, ”Weerasumana Weerasinghe, the ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidate pointed out. The provisions pertaining to dual citizenship in the 20th amendment were passed in parliament following a vote recently. Weerasinghe said Rajapaksa, a former US citizen, had pointed out that he was also a dual citizen, and had recalled the inconveniences he faced while renouncing it to run for President. "… He (the President) asked us not to reject it this time," the parliamentarian said.

10 cases from Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children

10 people at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH) have tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday (26). Director of LRH Dr. G. Wijesuriya speaking to News 1st said these patients are 07 children and 03 mothers. He said there is a considerable increase in the number of patients visiting the hospital and said the positive cases were reported after conducting immediate PCR tests. He urged parents to pay extra attention to their children’s health. Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH) staff members are not in harm’s way, he added.

Hospitalizing COVID-19 patients not essential - state minister

Individuals identified with COVID-19 will be admitted to facilities other than hospitals if infections continue to surge, a state minister has said. “… Hospitalizing a patient is not essential,” Prof. Channa Jayasumana, the state minister of production, supply and regulation of pharmaceuticals imposed. He pointed out that COVID-19 patients who test positive for the virus are given basic treatment at hospitals until they test negative for the infection. "If a person tests positive for COVID-19, we consider them as an infected person and not as a patient," Jayasumana added. He explained that authorities have identified facilities other than hospitals to admit COVID-19 patients until they recover from the virus.

Tests reveal more COVID-19 patients linked to Peliyagoda cluster

Several COVID-19 patients linked to the cluster that emerged at the Peliyagoda fish market tested positive for the virus on Monday. A vendor in Bakamuna, Polonnaruwa who had visited the Peliyagoda Fish Market to purchase prawns has tested positive for the virus. Accordingly, the Bakamuna Town was disinfected on Monday. Two COVID-19 cases were detected from Hambantota as well. One of them is a close contact of a patient linked to the Peliyagoda cluster. Our correspondent reported that the Hambantota Fisheries Harbor and the Hambantota Fish Market were closed down due to this reason. The Kotagala Town in Hatton was disinfected today after two COVID-19 cases were identified in the area. Both patients are close contacts of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster.
